Born in Nashville, Laura Cantrell is a counattempt singer that falls in the middle of country; not in the “commercialized counattempt music,” neither in “alt. country.” Based in NYC, Cantrell is primarily known for her radio show “Radio Thrift Shop.” In the radio show she offers listeners with a wide variety of not-so-known artists from the 30s, 40s and 50s.

            Her single “Love Vigilantes” is one of Cantrell’s most popular released songs. In the song, Cantrell sings in a very straightforward tone, conveying exactly what she is trying to mean. Simple, but complex at the same time, Cantrell shows us all that the simplicity of the song is what gives it such a awesome and deep meaning.
